Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Have A Winning Attitude

SERVICES

Players must have a solid foundation upon which to build before they can effectively reach the next level of development. Teaching the proper technique is vital. We believe that in order to build the complete foundation of a player it is important to address all four pillars of learning: psychological, technical, tactical, and physical. All four areas will be taught in a developmentally appropriate level to the player.

During individual sessions we can address the following areas based on what the player needs most to get to the next level of development. Below are the four training types.

    MENTAL

  • Smart goal setting
  • Imagery
  • How to have a winning attitude
  • Relaxation

    TECHNICAL

  • Ball Mastery
  • Controlling the Ball
  • Running with the Ball
  • Passing the Ball
  • Shooting the Ball

    TACTICAL

  • Position specific
  • How, When, and Where, to Move
  • Attacking, and defending principle (1st attacker and defender only)

    PHYSICAL

  • Speed and Agility
  • Beep Test
  • Pre-game Warm up Routine

Small group training is the perfect way to address the principles of attacking and defensive play at the advanced level. All areas from individual training can still be addressed, however with small group training we can run a very efficient session getting deeper into the tactical side of the game. This is where the individual technique and tactical awareness can be tested and refined with limited, and graduated pressure from other players. This is what leads to skill.

Depending on where players are developmentally, sessions can be adjusted to suit the group. We can challenge player at all levels and standards, or simplify in order to build a better foundation of the task. Sometimes taking a step backward may be just what a player, or group needs in order to make the leap forward to the next level.

Building on what can be taught individually we can teach:

    THE PRINCIPLES OF ATTACK

  • Penetration
  • Support

    THE PRINCIPLES OF DEFENSE

  • Pressure
  • Cover

    COMBINATION PLAYS

  • Wall Pass
  • Overlaps
  • Take Overs

This is where we can train all aspects of team play using the four pillars. At this stage it is my hope that you have a sound base already however we can still address all areas from individual and small group training only now we are working on the four main moments of the game. When your team has the ball, when your team loses the ball, when the opponent has the ball, and when your opponent loses the ball. Soccer at the highest level is a continuous game of attacking, defending and transition. All three areas are addressed with full team training.

What can be covered with full team training?:

    PRINCIPLES OF ATTACK

  • Penetration
  • Support
  • Depth
  • Mobility

    PRINCIPLES OF DEFENSE

  • Pressure
  • Cover
  • Balance
  • Compactness
  • Concentration

    ALL TRAINING CONDUCTED USING:

  • Shadow Play
  • Phase of Play
  • Functional Training
  • Coaching in the Game 11 vs 11

Smart Goal Setting

HISTORY

Samuel Dodds, founder and head technical director of Pittsburgh Soccer School of Excellence

Samuel founded the Pittsburgh Soccer School of Excellence with the belief that soccer programs should be focused on having quantifiable growth in all students. This belief was forged from over 15 years of professional playing experience in Ireland and Scotland. From there, Samuel earned 6 national coaching licenses and also earned certification in world known Coerver Coaching, and Muelensteen Moves coaching diplomas.

Samuel coach’s players at every level of the game using the four pillars of soccer; technical, tactical, physical, and most importantly psychological. He brings experience in the form of multiple high level coaching badges, experience working with youth, middle school, high school, and elite academy programs. Samuel believes that building complete players takes a huge commitment from coaches, players, and parents, however soccer can be enjoyed by just about anyone willing to give it a go.

Prior to becoming a certified coach, Samuel Dodds worked at CMS where he was responsible for a team of 27 employees as a supervisor. Later Samuel became a union boilermaker, where he was a certified welder. At times Samuel would travel to nuclear and coal fire power stations work sites all over the country.

Sam lives in the South Hills of Pittsburgh, via Belfast Northern Ireland, where you’ll find him running soccer clinics, and coaches’ clinics. Outside of soccer Samuel likes to read and box. He is a two time golden glove cruiser weight runner up amateur boxer. Samuel is also a father of two wonderful children, Aiden and Kiera. Samuel is the husband of Kristie Dodds.
